Lisa Edwards, Managing Director

 

Lisa Edwards is the Managing Director and principle Owner of MAATS Tech Ltd, a marine engineering consultancy experienced in special ship and equipment design for new-build vessels or conversions in the oil and gas market as well as the renewable energy industry.

Lisa joined the company back in 2000 when it was herself and her father, the business founder John Holt, and has helped in its growth and development to its current level of 45 employees and three offices sited in Winchester, Gloucester and Sunderland.

Prior to joining MAATS Lisa worked at Heathrow Airport for 20 years in cargo logistics coordination for the airlines such as Qantas, Emirates and Cathay Pacific.

Having seen the cyclical challenge that the oil and gas market goes through, the need to react and adapt has been extremely important to Lisa in order to continue the progression of the company and keep an open mind for the future.

 

Duncan McIntyre, Non-Executive Chairman of the Board

 

Duncan became Chairman of the Board in 2016. Prior to this, he was the Chief Executive and a major shareholder of Morse PLC, a computer company which he grew from being a small UK-based business to an international and quoted market leader. He was the Chairman and a key member of the team which built Monitise PLC, a mobile banking and payments company, from concept to a market leading position and then to its subsequent billion-pound market capitalisation. He was the Chairman of Profero, a digital advertising agency, where he was key in re-establishing the business and then selling it to Interpublic Inc.

Duncan continues to invest, chair and advise a number of companies.

Euan Worthington, Non-Executive Board Member

 

After graduating from King`s College, London, Euan spent three years as a mine and exploration geologist in Zimbabwe and Namibia. He returned to London and was awarded an MSc in Mineral Production Management at the Royal School of Mines, before joining Hoare Govett in 1983 as a mining analyst. He moved to Shearson Lehman in 1985 and in 1988 joined the international mining group at S.G.Warburg Securities as Head of Global Mining research; in 1990 he was voted No1 analyst in the Mining & Metals category of the Extel survey. In 1991, he transferred into Corporate Finance and after nine years with Warburgs (now UBS), he joined BZW as head of Metals and Mining Corporate Finance before moving to the same role at ABN AMRO Bank.

In his career, Euan has participated, as team leader or mining advisor, in numerous major corporate finance mandates including the 1993 sale of Anglo American`s international assets to Minorco; the de-merger of Union Miniere from Societe Generale; the privatisations of Outokumpu, Austria Metall and Cerro Matoso and the acquisition of Billiton from Shell by Gencor.

 

William Gibby, Technical Director

 

William Gibby is the Technical Director of MAATS and leads the Engineering, Projects, Consultancy & Analysis, Service & Commissioning and Supply Chain teams ensuring high quality delivery and support of major marine engineering projects. This involves overseeing the complete project lifecycle from initial tendering to final delivery and support.

Prior to MAATS William held senior engineering management positions in large global organisations in the Defence and O&G industries.

William is a Chartered Engineer & Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and holds a MSc in Systems Engineering Management (SEM) from UCL, London and sits on the UCL SEM Industry Advisory Board.

Gavin Rippe, Business Development Director

 

Gavin Rippe is the Business Development Director at MAATS. Gavin is currently consolidating MAATS leading position in the cable lay market both in Europe as well as overseas, and has spearheaded the development of several recent innovations. He held a senior position with JDR Cable Systems, overseeing its transition from pure oil & gas to offshore wind.

Gavin graduated with a first class degree in Mechanical Engineering from Portsmouth University.

James Luxton, Finance Controller

 

James is a CIMA qualified accountant with over 20 years post qualification experience. Having started in practice he has worked in industries as diverse as Heating and Plumbing, Christmas Hampers and the Recruitment sector. He brings a wealth of experience from devising foreign exchange policy and handling treasury for a listed plc to project managing the replacement of core IT systems.

He has overall responsibility for all aspects of finance for MAATS and has already overhauled our project reporting and bid processes with his extensive experience of financial modelling. James combines his financial duties with that of company secretary.

 

Senior Management Team

Victoria Sharpe

Victoria Sharpe, Engineering Manager

 

Victoria Sharpe is the Engineering Manager at MAATS Tech Ltd. She has been with the company since 2012 and leads MAATS’ innovative engineering team.  Her background is in Product Development in a variety of industries including medical devices and automotive.  Under her leadership, the engineering team is patenting its unique designs, expanding MAATS product range, performing in house research and development activities and designing and developing a variety of deck-spreads for both pipe lay and cable lay vessels in accordance to client and class needs. The engineering team consists of engineers from graduate to principle engineer level with a range of experience in both off shore and on shore engineering.

Victoria has a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from University of Bristol and is a Fellow of the IMechE.

May Deegan, Head of Projects

 

May believes that a successful project outcome relies on knowledge, communication and respect. 

With a decade of experience in the cable industry, five of those with MAATS. May has overseen the installation of both on and offshore cable handling spreads, comprising of carousels, tensioners, load arms and roller pathways as well as the required factory/vessel integration. Joining MAATS as a Project Manager, May successfully delivered 5 vessels before assuming her senior appointment in Dec 2016.

May holds a BEng in Electronic Engineering, is a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and is currently studying towards a Masters of Law.

Chris Hickling, Commissioning and Service Manager

 

Since joining MAATS as the Lead Commissioning Engineer in 2013, Chris has secured the successful delivery of multiple projects. Having progressed to the senior position of Commissioning and Service Manager, Chris now oversees a specialist team responsible for the commissioning and delivery of MAATS equipment on both new build and converted vessels. The vital client connection is maintained after delivery through Chris’s management of both aftersales and operational support. 

Chris has enhanced MAATS already sound understanding of the marine and offshore industry through his experience of overseeing live vessel operations and years of hands on experience working with similar equipment.
