Undercarriage

MAATS Tech engineers have carried out Finite Element Analysis of an undercarriage for a military aircraft for a renowned aerospace company. An image of the resulting model is shown above, highlighting the extremely fine mesh required for this complex geometry.

Numerous load cases were assessed, simulating the normal operating conditions of the undercarriage. The stress information from these cases was then used in a detailed fatigue assessment.

MAATS engineers worked closely with the client to optimise the design by thoroughly analysing the results of each load case and presenting them to the client along with their recommendations.
