Vessel Analysis

MAATS Tech offer detailed design and FE analysis of ship structures. We apply static plus wave bending moments and shear forces to accurately replicate operational and transit conditions. Class calculations are used to ensure close correlation on each loading condition. Alternatively, the distribution of mass can be modelled to simulate the global behaviour of the vessel.

We achieve detailed stress results combined with global bending moment and shear force diagrams. Panel bi-axial buckling checks are also carried out to confirm structural integrity.

Class Liaison and Naval Design Services

MAATS Tech has a close working relationship with maritime certification bodies such as DNV GL and Lloyds register and thus have familiarity with design codes that are applicable to maritime design installations.

In addition to analytical capability; MAATS Tech engineers are able to demonstrate an appreciation of ship safety and environmental management and knowledge of regulatory bodies such as IMO, and SOLAS.

Subsea Cable Analysis

MAATS Tech can deliver a vast array of subsea cable analysis services. The non-linear time domain finite element analysis program Orcaflex is used to create global models of subsea systems and evaluate the responses to environmental loads.

This can include any or all of the following:

  • Design verification and/or Front-End Engineering and Development (FEED) studies for static or dynamic cable routing, installation and operation.
  • Vibration analysis.
  • Clashing analysis.
  • Free-span assessment.
  • Cable protection system effectiveness analysis.
  • Pull-in analysis.
